Garen Arnet-Zargarian is the founder of Coast Legal.
Garen began his legal career at one of Canada’s leading criminal defence firms, where he defended high-profile criminal cases throughout British Columbia and Canada. After establishing a solid track record over six years at the firm, he started Coast Legal.
Garen has successfully defended clients facing a variety of criminal charges, including drug charges, assault, aggravated assault, sexual assault, impaired driving, kidnapping, theft, robbery, and homicide. He has secured acquittals in trials before judges and juries in communities across British Columbia, at the Provincial Court and Supreme Court. He has also conducted sentencing and conviction appeals at the B.C. Court of Appeal, and has helped youth clients avoid convictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Garen’s administrative law practice has included representing clients before the Law Society of British Columbia, the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, and other regulatory bodies, where he has devoted himself to maintaining his clients’ professional standing. He has also successfully challenged Administrative Driving Prohibitions and Immediate Roadside Prohibitions.
Outside the courtroom, Garen has negotiated many favourable resolutions to the complex legal problems his clients have faced.
Garen’s diverse life experiences before entering law include working as a commercial salmon fisherman in Northern B.C. and as a pest control technician. He also played competitive hockey and football, among other athletic pursuits, and once cycled from Vancouver to Mexico. These real-world endeavours taught Garen how to navigate high-pressure situations in a measured, strategic way, and have contributed to his creative, practical approach to legal defence.
